The data first
The Full Moon in Pisces is exact at 12:18 AM EDT on August 28 (9:18 PM PDT on August 27), at 4°54' Pisces, opposite the Sun at 4°54' Virgo.
It is a deep partial lunar eclipse — 96.3% of the Moon's face slides into Earth's umbra at greatest eclipse, 12:12 AM EDT. Not a total eclipse. But at 96%, the sliver left in sunlight is thin enough that your eyes will adapt and read the copper. It will look like a blood moon. It just isn't technically a total one, and you'll see the difference if you're photographing it.
Visibility: most of the Americas, western Europe, western Africa. Central and eastern US get the whole event above the horizon. West Coast — the Moon rises with the eclipse already underway, but you'll catch maximum.

This also closes the Pisces–Virgo eclipse cycle that's been running since September 2024. The axis doesn't get hit again for roughly nine years. Whatever thread has been pulling on you across those four eclipses — this is the last tug.
A note on what's circulating
You've probably seen the posts promising wealth by September if you touch, tap, or share. That's engagement mechanics dressed as prophecy. Eclipses don't run on repost counts.
What eclipses actually do is accelerate. They compress a process that was already in motion and hand you the ending early — usually before you feel ready, usually not in the shape you would have chosen. Pisces rules the parts of your life you've been dreaming about instead of deciding about. Virgo, sitting opposite, rules the daily practice that either supports the dream or quietly starves it.
That's the tension. Not "the universe is delivering." More like: the universe is closing an option so you stop hovering over it.
The Pisces–Virgo axis, honestly
Pisces at 4° is early-degree — dissolution, faith, the imaginal, the boundary you keep failing to hold. Virgo is discernment, repair, the unglamorous maintenance that makes a spiritual life livable.
An eclipse here tends to surface one of these:
- A relationship, habit, or story you've been spiritually bypassing instead of ending
- Exhaustion you've been calling devotion
- A creative or intuitive gift you've been treating as a hobby because the practical side never got built
- Somewhere you've confused being needed with being loved
Pisces is a water sign, and eclipsed water gets murky before it clears. Expect the 72 hours around this to feel dreamlike, tired, emotionally porous. That isn't a malfunction. That's the sign.
Ritual: The Water Return
The main working. Do it the night of the 27th, ideally during the partial phase (10:30 PM–1:50 AM EDT), or the following evening if that window is unworkable.
You need: a clear glass or bowl of water, salt, a small piece of paper, a bay leaf or dried lavender if you keep it, a fireproof dish.

Fill the bowl. Set it where moonlight can reach it, or under a window, or on a windowsill facing the Moon. If you're clouded out or indoors, set it anyway — the eclipse is happening whether you can see it or not.

Name the thing. On the paper, write what you already know is over. Not what you wish were over. The thing you've been narrating around for months. One sentence. Be specific enough that it would embarrass you slightly to read it aloud.

Salt the water. A pinch at a time, three times. With each pinch, say what it cost you. Time, money, self-respect, sleep, your practice — whatever the true ledger is. Say it plainly. Pisces work fails when it stays poetic.

Burn the paper in the fireproof dish. Let it go fully to ash.

Sit with the water until greatest eclipse passes. Don't fill the silence. This is the part people skip and it's the part that works.

Return the water to the earth — a plant, a drain, the ground outside. Not your body. This water is carrying out, not in.

Rinse the bowl, dry it, and leave it empty overnight. The empty vessel is the point.
Three smaller workings
For the sleepless (Pisces rules sleep and the dream state): Keep paper by the bed the nights of the 27th, 28th, and 29th. Eclipse dreams are unusually literal. Write them down before you're fully awake. The information arrives sideways this week — through dreams, through a song, through something someone says offhand.
For the depleted (the Virgo side): Audit one system. Just one. Your morning routine, your invoicing, your supplement shelf, your calendar. Eclipse energy will remove things whether or not you participate. Choosing what goes is a better position than being surprised.
For the water: A salt bath on the 28th or 29th, after the eclipse rather than during. Eclipses are for release; the days following are for repair. Ten minutes, no phone, drain the water while you're still in the tub if you can stand it — it's the oldest version of this working there is.
What not to do
Don't initiate. Eclipse portals are notoriously unreliable for beginnings. Signing, launching, confessing, buying — if it can wait until after September 1, let it. What starts under an eclipse tends to reveal a second, different shape within six weeks.
Don't cut cords in anger. Pisces boundaries are already thin here. A cord-cutting done from grief lands differently than one done from spite, and this Moon will not filter for you.
Don't decide anything at 1 AM. Especially if you have emotional authority in your Human Design chart. More on that in the companion piece.
Don't force a manifestation. This isn't that kind of moon. This is the subtraction that makes room.
After
The eclipse effect runs roughly two weeks out, and this one dovetails into the Sun's move deeper into Virgo — practical, repairing, unromantic in the best way. Whatever the eclipse takes, September is for rebuilding the daily structure that should have been there.
